Weeks 4 and 5 - Chicks to Pullets

April 12 - This Box is Getting Crowded

Big Red

Della

Aunt Rhoda

Shy Tilly

The babies are really starting to resemble chickens at 6 weeks old! Rhoda and Big Red are getting their combs, and Rhoda's beak is turning black. Della has the nicest personality and is quite friendly, but Tilly still is fairly shy - she got her tail all of a sudden! Koree and Cassi came and spent the day while Amy worked and Ben helped Randy with yard work and with the Hen House. Koree fell in love with the chickens and played with them outside all day while Cassi watched and giggled, and now the pullets are all quite people-friendly. They love playing on the grass and will soon enjoy their new home. Della actually found a nice juicy worm and swallowed it down like a piece of spaghetti! Funny how their instincts kick in like that. Soon the weather will be nice and they'll have the nicest coop on the block (I believe the ONLY coop on the block)!
