Feliz Ano Nuevo!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Many thanks to the kids for our delightful holidays. We had a wonderful evening on Christmas Eve with Nicole and Jon and the Cushings and enjoyed eating and watching those cute little kids' excitement at Santa coming to town. Then on Christmas evening we went to Vic and Rebekah's house. She fixed wonderful soups and other treats and others brought in pot luck. We had a battle of the fondues - Mike's European and Randy's Rocky Mountain. I think the RM won the prize. I think it's the Coors. Then on New Year's Eve we were invited (or did we invite ourselves?) up to Dan and Elizabeth's house to hang out. They had this nifty "Rock Star" video game with guitars and drums and a microphone. Most everyone took a turn on the mic or an instrument. Becky was super on the drums - guess all those piano lessons finally paid off! What a blast - but I found that I was totally out of my element. I really suck at singing in a rock band! Sorry, kids. It was more fun to watch and harass! It was sooooo hard. Give me a decent melody and I'm OK - but there really wasn't one I could find in the song the kids chose for me, even though I had been singing alone with that same song all night! I challenge them to sing my style of music! How about some "Peer Gynt" sung in Norwegian? Oh - maybe "Carmina Burana" would be better. At least there's some illicit sex by dirty old monks in that music! Anyway........ Here's to my new list of resolutions. Becky asked me what those might be and I told her these: Take better care of my body; show more loving kindness to people, especially my family; and keep trying to clean up around here and get organized. I think that's a pretty good list. I think I want to add one more - find more joy in the simple things. Life is good!
