Santa Claus is Comin' to Town!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care..... blah, blah, blah. The concerts are about done, the presents are about wrapped, and the candy is about made. Christmas will come, and Christmas will go, and we'll have memories once more of how good it feels to make someone smile, how hard I worked on that gift, how that music brought tears to my eyes. I remember the smell of the new Tiny Tears doll that cried and wet her pants. I remember when I started questioning whether Santa was real or not... oh, how I wanted to believe. I remember being forced to go to bed and not being able to sleep because I really wanted to hear the sound of hooves on the roof and maybe hear the jingle of those bells. Then there were the times we stayed up late putting all those Star Wars toys together and were so excited to see the surprise on your little faces when that special gift was left unwrapped under the tree. Remember the Stretch Armstrong and Stretch Hulk, and the Cabbage Patch Dolls? Remember the Christmas that came to our door by surprise the year we were really poor? That was probably our best Christmas ever. Like it or not, Santa Claus (or Randal Claus) is coming to town - Christmas will come and go one more time. My wish for this Christmas is that my children will think about why we celebrate this season. Try to reach for a quiet moment to think about the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and remember all He has done for us. Read the story of His birth in Luke and remember.
