Sweet Saturdays with Randy

On November 10 Randy and I decided to escape the city and head east to Park City to see what the "Adopt a Native Elder Rug Show" had to offer. The proceeds of this event helps raise funds to meet the needs of the elderly on the reservations to sustain them through the winter. We browsed the beautiful rugs hand made by the sweet "Ya ya's", some so old they were blind and deaf and wove these traditional art pieces by memory or with the help of their granddaughters at their side to guide them.
On the lighter side, we went on our way up to Heber City and went to the Cowboy Poetry Gathering & Buckaroo Fair at the high school where we found some mighty fine cowboy poets and some super cowboy music - some old timers and some young folks on their way to fame and fortune! We found one group toward the end of the night we especially liked called "Stampede". Three performers, that were a lot of fun. We visited with them after their performance and found connecting threads in Star Valley. The female vocalist was from there and had written a song about Wyoming and took us out into the hall where the group sang just to Randy. I do believe that tough cowboy had a tear in his eye, and was so pleased and touched by her song. This was a place he could wear his cowboy attire and just blend in with the crowd and just be the cowboy he enjoys being. It was a sweet Saturday with my Randy.
